As the cold months inch ever nearer
I find myself thinking about the past
Was I on the right path ever in my life
I don't know if I've ever asked

So here I sit thinking and typing these words
As though writing myself a lonely letter
There are many roads that I never travelled
Perhaps one of them would be better

But the wind on this street it feels bitter
The cold makes me feel so alone
The pain that I feel it makes me alive
But living is worse on your own

I don't care for this feeling

8 months of cold and 4 months of warmer
and so much of that time is spent looking backward
i wonder what things would be like if i'd wandered
and chosen a path that is different from mine

but there is not point to this thought exercise
all it will do is build anxiety
i don't like to feel all this horrid depression
i know that my home is just waiting for me

but the wind in the city is bitter
the cold makes me feel all alone
the pain that i feel it proves i'm alive
